Papyrus Oud / 71 is a meeting point between two spaces of time. An ode to the novel use of papyrus in the coveted Gucci Pour Homme (2003): dry and crinkly like parchment with an unmissable woody spiciness, Michel Almairac revisits this accord of his very own making. This is cut with an unexpected freshness, then combined with the aromas of sanctity: precious oud, resins, and incense offered to Eastern Gods. A stroll on the Nile with a view of the Eiffel Tower. An ancient stone temple covered in moss in the heart of Hyde Park. Let your mind transport you into this unique journey.

Fragrance Family:
Woody Amber

Main Notes:
Papyrus, Chinese Ginger, Somalian Incense, Oud, Musk

Concentration:
Eau de Parfum

Occasion:
Versatile yet special, Papyrus Oud is an excellent all-rounder, and perfect signature scent material.

Made in France

Papyrus Oud zooms you deep into woods and green rainforests, into a clearing surrounded all over with tall agarwood trees - where an temple stands, like a silent sentinel in the visible distance burning incense, olibanum, pine resin and oud in tribute. The scent is darkly shaded, dry - almost dusty, like ancient sacred dust. It is herbal, and deep, as oud pounds its usual medicinal-clean and rubbery purity against the raw purr of cedar. This is refreshed with the diffusive and cool spiciness of ginger.

Bone dry woods: an immediate love

Papyrus Oud / 71 EDP:

I tore through the sample and ordered a full bottle immediately, this has become my absolute favourite scent. On first spray I thought 'Gee whiz, who thought that Oud could smell so fresh, light and green?'. Then I checked the notes and it's not even listed... obviously there is something resembling Oud in the base, it's easy to pick out. The incense and green notes are dry, lush and super aromatic. If the florals play any role then they only serve to smooth out the rough edges and bring balance to the main notes.

Longevity and projection are solid, projection is good enough for people to notice and longevity is good enough to see you through the whole day. This is a great blend of young and mature, aromatic enough for the day yet dark enough for the night.

Bone dry woods: an immediate love

I can't tell you how much I love this fragrance, it has become an immediate signature for me.

I have never smelled Gucci Pour Homme (discontinued) but this is the same perfumer and has the same notes. If you miss that fragrance, you should try this out.

The person who wears this is not trying to be bombastic, but deserves to be taken seriously. I'm a huge fan, I actually think this is great as a daywear/ warm weather option. This is a real chameleon on my skin, about 12 hours in it morphs into a dry tonka/ musk heavy skin scent which I'm in love with.
