Etat Libre d'Orange Rien Intense is a dramatic fragrance with a powerful sensuality. Bold incense and black pepper are combined with notes of rose, leather and balsamic amber for an unforgettably strange and wonderful potency. Rien Intense Incense is a challenge to the senses, apply with caution. Made in France.

Fragrance Family:
Dry Woods

Main Notes:
Black Pepper, Safraleine (Saffron & Leather Accord), Incense essence Orpur, Leather, Iris Absolute, Cistus Absolute, Patchouli essence Orpur, Vetiver essence Orpur, Treemoss

Concentration:
Eau de Parfum

Occasion:
A big fragrance, strictly for the wintertime.

Made in France

Rien, which means 'nothing' in French, is quite the perverse name. Rien Incense Intense instead is maximal perfumery - big, bold, and full. Unsweetened leather and animalics, with a nebulous incense that pulls people right in. Spray lightly and wear with discretion.

A solid 'nightclub' olibanum

This one is known as a 'beast mode' fragrance - one that will project, turn heads and linger. Great for a night out. Olibanum is a note that I equate with ritual, mystery, calmness, and darkness. This fragrance ramps that up with a slightly whiney animalistic angle that is less cosy and more confronting. Not quite as complex and nuanced as Mancera's olibanum and nowhere near as complex and cosy as Piguet's Casbah - but very much a great raw 'night out' frankincense regardless. A solid buy.

The fragrance equivalent of a small atomic explosion

[Review of Rien Intense Incense Sample Vial]

The name 'intense incense' fits very well here which is strange because usually the names of Etat Libre d'Orange's fragrances give zero indication of what the juice actually smells like. I love this fragrance, I don't feel I have the personality to pull this off but I just can't keep my nose away from my elbow. Will I buy the full bottle? Probably, if only because it has the staying power of a small nuclear explosion.

Unforgettable, sexy, extravagant

This is one of the strangest perfumes I have ever smelt in my life. It’s intense but supple. At the opening, you can smell the unsweetened leather and bold incense. As it begins to settles you then start to smell a beautiful blend of woods, pepper and a touch of rose. This is definitely a bold fragrance. It really takes a bold character to pull it off. Don’t buy it if you can’t handle the responsibility that comes with wearing this master piece of a fragrance.
