Shaving Cream

There’s more to shaving cream than pressurised foam. Get your hands on the real stuff, which can be lathered with or without a shaving brush. Easy to use, shaving creams lather quickly and generously, often made from naturally-derived and plant-based ingredients such as long-chained fatty acids and exceptional aromatic materials, producing a shave that smells as good as it feels. A little bit of product goes a long way, and can offer many months of high-quality shaving. Investing in a quality cream is a supremely economical choice. 

Classic British shaving creams have a soft formulation, from brands such as Taylor of Old Bond Street, Geo. F. Trumper, D. R. Harris, and Castle Forbes. Both sandalwood and lime are well-loved options, as well as coconut from Geo. F. Trumper. 

Italian-style shaving creams are slightly firmer in their constitution, and benefit from a shaving brush. Italian brands include Santa Maria Novella and barbershop favourite Proraso, which is beloved all around the world. Proraso ‘Refreshing’, colloquially known as Proraso Green, for instance, has a classic mentholated formulation that offers a familiar zing on the skin.

Shaving cream tubes are great for travel, with many brands offering their signature aromas and formulas in a portable and convenient format. They take up minimal space and can easily be dispensed into hand or bowl, lathered with or without a shaving brush. Proraso and Geo. F. Trumper are popular choices.
