Harmony resonates in the heart of Interlude Black Iris Man. Zesty bergamot, rosemary and violet leaves conjure perpetuating intervals of conflict which are countered by notes of amber, frankincense, labdanum and myrrh. A layer of orris absolute and vanilla smoothens the heart of the composition. Finally, notes of leather, agarwood smoke, patchouli, sandalwood and cedar in the base add lasting depth and texture.

Fragrance Family:
Woody Oriental

Main Notes:
Violet, Rosemary, Orris, Agarwood, Sandalwood, Leather

Concentration:
Eau de Parfum

Occasion:
Enigmatic and deep, Interlude Black Iris develops in waves, and is best for the cooler months.

Made in Oman

Black Iris demonstrates how precise the art of perfume really is - by adding iris rhizome and softening the smoke, the scent takes on a new personality. Indeed, it is familiar yet distinct - just as haunting and beautiful, and lavish with oud, resins and plumes of gossamer incense smoke as was the original, and yet the beast is tamed; of the same family and DNA, now with an inimitable earthiness and softness only possible through elegant iris - turning Interlude into a gentleman's (or gentlewoman's) fragrance.

A very bold choice.

Fans of leather, this is a must for testing! Iris and leather is a tried and true combination at this point in time, but this is so much bolder than anything that has come before it. A word of caution: The opening is extremely intense and a little bitter. It's like going from 0 - 100km/h in a split second, but once you grow accustomed to it's intensity things start opening up a little. To my nose orris butter is the star, supported by a bed of resins. There are nice herbal green notes at the top giving it a vegetal edge and a seductive mix of amber and woods revealing itself deep into the dry-down. The leather accord comes across as strong, robust and gentlemanly but there are plenty of softer notes at the edges which have softened it enough to be considered elegant. This is one of the most venerable fragrances I have come across and I have the utmost respect for anyone that has the strength of character to pull this off.

Never tried the original, but..

From the point of view of someone who never tried the original - Interlude Black Iris is a smoky, leathery, creamy sensation, with a touch of sweetness that I assume is the iris note. Gets sweeter, with more vanilla on dry-down, and lasts an age. Try before you buy, as it is a real kick to the head if you're inexperienced, but I couldn't be more impressed.

A more agreeable Interlude, still a beast.

[Review of Interlude Black Iris Man EDP]

Much like the original Interlude but a more agreeable opening, some buttery smooth iris and a smokey leather drydown. Lasts forever!
