How to Determine Your Skin Type

What type of skin do I have?

Achieving healthy, balanced skin requires consistency, but it doesn't have to be complicated to get results. A basic skincare regimen should consist of a cleanser, toner and moisturiser every morning and night, and a scrub 2-3 times a week (ideally before shaving). Choosing the right products begins with knowing what your skin type is, which is where the below guide will come in handy.

Normal skin

Normal skin isn't too oily or too dry, and rarely experiences pimples and blemishes. Pores are small, skin looks balanced and feels smooth to touch.

Dry skin

Dry skin feels tight, itchy, easily irritated and rough to touch. You'll notice skin tends to flake, chap and appears dull. Pores are small and skin feels thin and uncomfortable.

Oily skin

Oily skin is thicker and has larger pores that can easily become clogged, resulting in an increase of blackheads or whiteheads. Your skin is thick, dull and generally insensitive to harsh chemicals and climates.

Combination skin

Combination skin refers to an oily "T" zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry skin around the cheeks and eye area. Skin is prone to larger pores and blackheads, spots and blemishes around the T-zone, and small pores elsewhere.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin often experiences redness, dryness and irritation, usually aggravated by harsh ingredients. Skin feels tight and itchy, and pores are small.
